Museum Opening

Ribbon Cutting on June 26, 2025 with the Board of Directors and Elected Officials

The NBHS Board of Directors hosted a festive ribbon-cutting on June 26 to celebrate our new

Museum location at the Balboa Fun Zone. We were humbled to have so many NBHS members

and residents in attendance. Bernie Svalstad did the honors, with the help of local leaders, Mayor

Will O’Neill, City Council Member Robyn Grant, as well as Assemblywoman Diane Dixon, and former Mayors Don Webb and Steve Rosansky.

The opening comes after many hours of hard work and the creative design of volunteers Niclas Hjelm, Dave Rosenberger, and Scott Richards, as well as archival research and other support of Andrea Sotomayor and Sarah Frasco. Come check out the Museum at 600 E. Bay Avenue – open Thursday through Sunday from 2 until 6!
